Hawaii-based filmmaker Kekai Boshard came to By Five ready for a brand that felt as elevated and intentional as the films he creates. We built a custom brand identity paired with a semi-custom website—refining every detail to feel cinematic, polished, and distinctly his. The result is a digital home that reflects the caliber of his work and gives his business room to grow.

The Inspiration + Creative Process

Kekai is a talented filmmaker based in Hawaii, and we wanted his new brand to feel deeply connected to the place he calls home—without leaning into the expected or overly tropical.

We began with a discovery call to dive into Kekai’s vision, the direction he wanted to take his business, and the kind of clients he wanted his brand to attract.

From there, we developed a visual direction that felt refined, cinematic, and effortlessly cool. Over the course of the branding process, we brought that vision to life through a completely custom logo, submark, color palette, and font system designed to complement the beauty and emotion of Kekai’s work.

Finally, we brought the brand into the digital space with a semi-custom website, thoughtfully tailoring our London Fog templatesto feel completely his. The finished site is elevated and intentional, with just enough of a nod to Hawaii to feel rooted in Kekai’s story.
